Open House Event!

After 3.5 months of keeping our doors closed and working on a bunch of exciting projects behind those closed doors, we’re ready to welcome the public back inside the historic Fallon Theatre!

Please join us on Friday, June 26th from 4pm-7pm.

The Board of Directors will be available to answer questions, concessions will be open, and all visitors will receive a FREE small popcorn AND a free movie pass that can be used at any time.

Then we hope to see you back the following evening for our grand re-opening movie… Big Jake!

Our volunteers will be wearing masks, but masks are voluntary for our guests. We will have sanitizer available and masks for sale if necessary. We sincerely hope you can stop in to see the improvements!

Big Jake will play Saturday, June 27th at 7pm!

Marquee Message Program

On April 29th, after realizing that we would not be able to reopen after two weeks like we’d originally planned, we launched a new project that we felt could both boost community morale and give us a small amount of income while the doors were closed for movies and events.

The response was better than we could have hoped! Renting out our marquee space for birthday, anniversary, and other messages on a by-donation basis brought us over $1,500 which was much appreciated to help cover our regular bill expenses. Thank you, Churchill County!

We’re going to continue the program with Sunday & Monday Marquee Messages! Every Sunday and Monday will be reserved for community use!

.

ALL the Updates!!

We are so excited for all the updates that happened while the doors were closed. There was definitely a lot of lemonade making out of those lemons!!

All of the carpet throughout the lobby, hallways, and auditoriums has been replaced, the concession area got a beautiful bright fresh coat of paint and new snazzy posters for our specials, plus the concession flooring has been updated to include a trapdoor which is needed to access some valves.

In addition to these striking changes, many not-so-obvious updates have been happening, too. The plumbing is all updated and repaired and the walls have been patched and repainted, the bathrooms have been repainted and touched up, the air conditioning systems are being cleaned and prepped, the computer systems in both projection booths are brand new, all light bulbs are being replaced, the popcorn machine has been disassembled, scrubbed, repaired, and is ready to go, and the entire concessions will be starting out brand new and fresh!

PLUS… something we’re REALLY excited about… the front platform in the lobby is being revamped into a MUSEUM space! Our old film projectors are being reassembled and shined, we have framed original blueprints, and we have some fantastic old photographs to display as well!

We are SO EXCITED for our Open House Event on Friday, June 26th from 4-7pm so we can show off all this fun stuff! Hope you join us!!

.

Candy Sales!

With the community’s support we were able to clear out our old candy stocks in preparation for starting fresh when we reopen! This half-priced sale brought in over $600 that went toward our regular utility bills. We so appreciate our volunteers and our customers for making it happen!

.

Considerations…

We still don’t know when we might be able to open back up, but our Board of Directors have been researching, reading, and making plans for when it happens.

We would like to ask our community what YOU would like to see in place when we reopen. What, if anything, would make you feel safer or more comfortable coming into the building? Some of our considerations…

-Masks for volunteers.

-Masks available for patrons.

-Hand sanitizer station.

-Sneeze shield plexiglass in place around the concession counter.

-One person handling money and transactions, one (or more) handling food, no cross-contamination.

-Using gloves and changing between orders.

-Limiting capacity in each auditorium. (We can seat just over 100, so limit to 40?)

-Blocking off every other row to ensure social distancing.

-Signage in restrooms to remind patrons of proper hand washing.

-Placards to place in a seat you occupied to let our staff know to sanitize the area.

We welcome all opinions and ideas for this unique situation we all find ourselves in. We are very grateful for our current circumstances which include, above all, owning the building and not having a mortgage payment. Our nonprofit status and fully volunteer staff means that the Fallon Theatre will survive this and remain an important community center for Churchill County. We are working diligently behind closed doors to be sure that when they’re open, we’ll have a beautiful, squeaky clean, fully restocked theatre to welcome you into!

Stay Safe, Fallon! ❤️

We at the Fallon Theatre would like to extend our warmest wishes for everyone’s health and well-being. This community is so incredibly important to us!

That being said, we would like to remind our Sustaining Members that you can log in to your Wild Apricot account at any time to suspend or cancel your membership if you’re currently experiencing financial hardship. Your account will still be there when things return to whatever state of normal comes after this adventure and you can choose to re-up and continue supporting us when you’re able. We ABSOLUTELY appreciate the support of our members, but we also fully understand the uncertainty that many are living with and wouldn’t begrudge a membership fee to anyone.

However, if you have it within your financial means to continue your membership (or perhaps even sign up as a new member!) – all while receiving nothing in return – know that we are incredibly grateful! Our volunteers have been working on small projects within the theatre while the doors have been closed and we have big plans for grant money after the current situation resolves.

We hope to reopen our doors in the near future and welcome our community supporters back with open arms! Stay safe, Fallon. ❤️

Temporary Closure Notice!

On behalf of the Fallon Community Theater, Inc’s Board of Directors, we truly hope everyone is staying safe and well! That being said, we feel that it is in the best interest of our volunteers and the community to err on the side of caution and cease operation for a short period of time while the concern regarding the COVID-19 virus runs its course.

This Sunday, March 15th, will be our final movie showing for at least the next two weeks. We will reevaluate throughout this time to decide if staying closed longer would be beneficial. However, this won’t be purely downtime! We plan on using this hiatus to complete some various house-keeping projects – attic work, deep cleaning, painting, prepping the air conditioning units, and cleaning up our Sustaining Membership list among other things.

We appreciate the community’s support and patronage throughout the years that we’ve been working on this project and we fully intend to come back from this break better than ever and ready to continue providing fabulous community events! Unfortunately, this means that our monthly concert series featuring the Will Shamberger Band (March 27th) as well as our monthly Saturday Morning Cartoon event (March 28th) will be postponed.

Thank you for understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience!
